James Pleiman
James E. Pleiman, age 86, of Cassella, Ohio, died on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Otterbein in St. Marys.
He was born December 9, 1934, in St. Patrick, to the late Edward & Margaret (Schafer) Pleiman. On August 4, 1962, he married Joan (Homan) Pleiman, and she died October 16, 2016.
Jim is survived by his four children: Mary Ann & Mark Stucke of Versailles, David & Laura Pleiman of Maria Stein, Dean Pleiman of Maria Stein, and Diane & Nick Steinke of Coldwater; 11 grandchildren: Jamie & Thomas Heckman, Lyndsay & Jacob Dirksen, Mitchell & Lindsey Stucke, Matthew & Johanna Stucke, Shelby, Garrett, Trent, and Emma Pleiman, Maddie, Molly, and Claire Steinke; 15 great grandchildren and one on the way; as well as siblings and in-laws, Mary Louise Dahlinghaus, Helen Grogean, Ellen Grilliot, Nick Pleiman, Jerry Pleiman, Johanna Harlamert-Koesters & Charles Koesters, Teresa & Bill Winner and Linda Pleiman-Ranly & Herb Ranly, Bernice Frey, Mary Ann Young, Pat Homan, and Marilyn Homan.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws: Irene Pleiman, Sister Grace Mariam Pleiman, Ed Jr. Pleiman, Dolores & Bob Van Leeuwen, Norbert Dahlinghaus, James Grogean, Jeanette Pleiman, John Grillot, Rosie Pleiman, Larry Harlamert, Lillian & Orlie Flatt, Delores & Don Replogle, Jean Homan, Donald Homan, Zeno Homan, Hilbert Homan, Walter Frey, and Jack Young.
Jim was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cassella, as well as the Men's Sodality at the church and the former Catholic Knights of America, now Catholic Financial Life. He worked at the former New Idea plant in Coldwater for 34 years and was a farmer. Jim served in the U.S. Army in Germany. After retiring he worked for Maria Stein Trenching.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Saturday December 11, 2021, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Cassella. Burial will follow in Nativity Cemetery in Cassella.
Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:0 0pm on Friday, December 10 and 9:0 am to 10:00 am on Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
