Vernon F. Kuhn, 85, of Rockford passed away on February 15, 2022 at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.

He was born on October 05, 1936, in Mercer County, the son of the late Herbert H. and Viola (Bollenbacher) Kuhn. On January 16, 1959, he married the former Vera White, who passed away on July 1, 2015.

Vernon was a graduate of Willshire High School. He retired after 34 years of employment from General Electric in Decatur, IN. Vernon was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Rockford Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and fishing. Vernon also coached Little League in Rockford for many years.

Surviving are a daughter, Kristina Stemen of Rockford; a grandson, Noah Stemen of Rockford; one sister, Delilah "Becky" Hays; and two sisters-in-law, Jane Kuhn and Pat Kuhn.

In addition to his parents and wife, Vera, Vernon was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Kuhn; four brothers, Orville, Robert, Gerald, and Chalmer Kuhn; two sisters, Dorothy Rupert, and Carol Graves; and two sisters-in-law, Joy Kuhn and Marie Kuhn.

Services will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, February 18, 2022, at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be private.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022 prior to the funeral service at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home.

Out of concerns for others, Vernon's family asks that anyone attending his visitation and funeral service please wear a mask. They also respectfully request that anyone who is ill or experiencing any symptoms of COVID please do not attend the services, but rather call or send their condolences.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vernon`s memory may be sent to the Rockford United Methodist Church Cheer Boxes fund.
