Leroy Broeker
Leroy A. Broeker, age 77, of Coldwater, passed peacefully up into God's arms at 11:16 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Dayton VA Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born February 15, 1945 in Coldwater to the late Anthony & Marie (Rammel) Broeker.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy (Victor) Billerman, Delores (Donald) May, James Broeker, and Ralph Broeker; a great granddaughter who he never met Lydia Griswold and a nephew Dennis Broeker.
On December 22, 1973 he married his wife of 48 years Carolyn (Trisel) Broeker who survives in Coldwater.
He is also survived by children Jeffrey (Julie) Broeker of Sidney, Tracey (Bill) Nelson of Sidney, and Jennifer (Chris) Overbey of Ft. Loramie; grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia & Naomi Broeker, Brittney (Jared) Griswold, Derek Rasawuhr, Alyssa (Jace) New and Madison Stant; great-grandchildren, Jackson & Xavier Griswold, Aria, Colton, Elaina and Grayson New and Chancellor Goin; siblings and in-laws, Mary Ann (Cyril) Droesch of St. Henry, Mary Jo Broeker and Patricia Broeker both of Coldwater and his best friend Anthony Schoenlein of Portland, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
Leroy graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1964. Two years later he served with the US Army including time in Vietnam with an honorable discharge serving from April of 1966 to November 1968. Leroy enjoyed keeping busy, he spent a lot of time with Alex, Olivia & Naomi, he took care of them for over 10 years and was so very proud of them. Camping was their favorite activity. Leroy also enjoyed playing cards, mowing grass and fixing/building things. His family was very important to him and he showed that each and every day. He will be so deeply missed. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and the Coldwater American Legion. Leroy worked many years at the former New Idea Plant in Coldwater and later at PAB construction in Coldwater.
Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Holy Trinty Catholic Church. Burial with military rites will be at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Friday and from 9 to 10 am Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
