Gerald Dippold
Gerald J. "Jerry" Dippold, age 81 of St. Henry, passed away peacefully Monday, February 21, 2022, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater with family at his side.
He and his twin brother, Jim, were born March 26, 1940, in Celina, to the late Norbert & Vioma (Overman) Dippold. On June 22, 1963, in St. Henry he married Mary Kay (Romer) Dippold, and she died April 18, 2020. They had celebrated 56 years of marriage together.
Jerry is survived by children, Chris & Jane Dippold of Coldwater, Linda & Ken Goettemoeller, Amy & Kevin Leugers, all of St. Henry, and Tim & Carrie Dippold of Cincinnati, 10 grandchildren, Isaac & Kiya, Seth & Taylor, and Bryn Dippold, Michael & Megan Goettemoeller, Jared, and Adam Goettemoeller, Bryce, Katie, Claire, and Ty Dippold, and two great grandchildren, Connor Goettemoeller and Drew Dippold. Jerry is also survived by siblings and in-laws, his twin brother Jim & Betty Dippold, John & Dianne Dippold, all of St. Henry, Janice & Lonnie Brunswick of Michigan, and Louis Stahl of St. Henry.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by in-laws, Mary Dippold, Verna & Louis (Jake) Buschor, Donnie & Eldon (Dink) Welch, Lowell (Bud) & Ann Romer, Harry Jr. (Lefty) & Janet Romer, Vivian Romer, Myra & John Delzeith, Julia Stahl, Ann & Joe Hoening, and his father and mother-in-law, Harry & Margaret Romer.
Jerry grew up in St. Henry and graduated from St. Henry High School in 1958. He went on to study at Sinclair College in Dayton and graduated in 1960. From there he went on to start his career as an Engineering Technician Draftsman at Minster Machine. He served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968 as a Private stationed at Ft. Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Jerry was an active member in his community serving on the St. Henry Village Council for five years and as the St. Henry Village Clerk for 11 years. He was a proud member of St. Henry Catholic Church where he had served on parish council and was a funeral server.
Jerry enjoyed sports, especially basketball. He was a stat keeper for St. Henry Basketball for 25 years. Jerry ended his career as a Product Engineering Supervisor at Minster Machine after 40 years. After retiring Jerry volunteered and then served on the board at St. Peter Neurological Center, now The Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville. Jerry enjoyed golfing and fishing, traveling and visiting casinos. He was an avid card player and played once a month with the Minster Machine Poker Club for over 50 years. He was an expert interior painter and he whistled while he worked. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and especially following his grandchildren's various sports and activities.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 25, 2022, in St. Henry Church. Following the funeral mass burial with military honors will be in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends and family may visit from 3:30pm - 7:30pm on Thursday, February 24, and from 9:00am -10:00am on Friday, February 25, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville or EverHeart Hospice.
