He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1992) and University of Akron (Class of 1997), where he earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Gary was a phenomenal husband, dad, son, brother, and friend who always put everyone else's needs ahead of his own. The most important thing to him in this world was his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his huge, crazy, blended family at the ball field, in the gym, in the family pool, traveling, or around the dinner table. He also loved time with his parents, sisters, in-laws, and extended family, especially during trips to Hocking Hills or at the kids' games. His perfect day included having a morning cup of coffee on the porch or hanging out in the sunroom with Angie, the kids, and his two dogs, Bentley and Daisy (who were especially fond of his shoulder massages), lounging by the pool or in the hot tub, watching the kids' ball games, and enjoying a beverage while grilling and catching up with whichever kid joined him. He was Vice-President of Product Line Management for the Commercial Vehicle Group in New Albany, OH, where he worked for almost 20 years. Gary was known at work for his kindness, his work ethic, and the respect that he showed to all. He loved "his guys" and always worried about taking care of their needs.
