Joan Eckstein
Joan P. (Everman) Eckstein, age 89, of Coldwater, died on Friday, August 12, 2022, surrounded by her family at Briarwood Village, Coldwater. She was born March 8, 1933 in Coldwater to the late Leo & Alvira (Bruggeman) Everman.
On August 7, 1954, she married Eugene Eckstein and he survives in Coldwater.
She is survived by children: Dan Eckstein of Celina, Ken & Steve Eckstein of Lakewood, Don Eckstein of Coldwater, Ann & Tony Birkmeyer of Celina, Jim & Janet Eckstein of Coldwater, and Brian & Karla Eckstein of Maria Stein. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kyle Eckstein, Andrea & Garrett Saul, Kara & Cole Andromalos, Brad Eckstein and significant other Elaine Luong, Emma and Lydia Eckstein, Nora, Nolan, Mya, and Marcus Eckstein, and great grandchildren Irena, Theodore, Quinn and Eden Saul, and siblings and in-laws, Eileen & Jerry Muhlenkamp of Celina, Roger & Pauline Everman Miamisburg, Eileen Eckstein of Greenville, Irene Mowen of Coldwater, and Teresa & Bill Bowersock of Spencerville.
Joan is preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Eckstein, an infant grandson Christopher Eckstein, as well as in-laws, Lee & Helen Eckstein, Cleopha & Joe Brunswick, Herman & Millie Eckstein, Margie & Clarence Benanzer, Clarence & Bert Eckstein, Hilda & Cletus Niekamp, Imelda & Florian Keller, Scott Mowen, Clem Eckstein.
Joan was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Joan was a 1951 graduate of Coldwater High School. She was also a member of the St. Ann's Holy Rosary Society. Joan had a passion for reading and cherished the importance of her long time friendships. She had a funny sense of humor and could really get her family and friends laughing.
She was a lifetime resident of Coldwater Ohio and had a fantastic memory for remembering people and family connections. She loved to talk to people and would engage people easily in conversations. She liked to collect angels and would often pray to Saint Anthony for guidance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, August 17, and from 9:00-10:00am on Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Memorial contributions may be made to The Coldwater Public Library. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
