Phyllis Miller
Phyllis Catherine Miller, age 93, of Celina, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at her residence.
She was born August 24, 1928, in North Star, a daughter of Joseph & Bernadine (Berning) Stammen. Phyllis and Raymond J. Miller were married on June 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death September 30, 2019.
Surviving are their five children: Lois (Dick) Bollenbacher of Rockford, Don (Debra) Miller of Celina, Kathy (Bill) Esser of Coldwater, Marleen (Dan) Evers of Burkettsville, and Margie (Jerry) Albers of Celina, eight grandchildren: Steve (Ryanne) Bollenbacher, Brenda (Josh) Castle, Jayme Miller, Kevin Esser, Janel (Kyle) Hamrick, Kelly (Jon) Pottkotter, Elizabeth Evers, and Sarah Albers, eleven great-grandchildren, a brother and sister: Tom Stammen of Cridersville and Betty Werling of Celina, and a sister-in-law, Betty Stammen of Waynesville.
Phyllis was preceded in death by a sister and brothers: Mary Jane Fleckenstein, Joseph Stammen, and Lavern Stammen, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clara Stammen, Beth Stammen, Marie Stammen, Al Fleckenstein, and Ken Werling, and all eight of Ray's brothers and sisters, as well as their spouses: Florentine (Walter) Loy, Asella (Herb) Muhlenkamp, Adeline (Irvin) Wagner, Sylvester (Geraldine) Miller, Jerome (Ludwina) Miller, Sister DePaul Miller, C.PP.S., Sister Magdalen Miller, C.PP.S., and Mildred (Louis) Schoen.
After attending St. Henry High School, Phyllis served as a waitress at Pantry Lunch and the Celina Coffee Shop. She worked at Mersman Furniture and the Huffy Bicycle Plant, and later did housekeeping for families in Celina. Phyllis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, the Altar-Rosary Society, Ladies Auxiliary and prayer chain, assisted with the IC Parish Festival, baked cakes for many funeral luncheons, and was a cafeteria worker at IC School.
She volunteered as a bingo worker at Celina Manor Nursing Home. Phyllis was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed flower gardening. A very self-giving and caring person, Phyllis' love language was service. She was always providing for everyone else. Phyllis was a very hard worker and a good listener, and could be ornery at times. She was always there for her children and grandchildren, willing to help in any way possible. Phyllis will be dearly missed, and forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. John W. Tonkin, presiding. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Celina.
Calling Hours are 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, and 9:15-10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina.
Memorial Contributions may be made for Masses, to IC Parish, or the IC Endowment Fund.
