Marie Campbell
Marie Ann Campbell, 65, of Frederick, Maryland passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday November 24, 2022 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, OH.
She was born December 2, 1956 in Dayton, OH to Thomas and Patricia (Lindley) Campbell.
She is survived by her father Thomas Campbell of St. Marys, OH; brother Thomas P. Campbell of Brookville, OH; step-sister Debra (Scott) Hamilton of St. Marys, OH; step Brother, Richard Craft (Patty) of West Milton, OH and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Campbell; step-mother, Imogene Campbell; brother Mark Campbell; step Brother Ronnie Joe Craft.
She was a 1976 graduate of Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus OH, 1976 Rochester Technical Institute in New York and in 1985 a graduate of Gallaudet College in Washington D.C. where she was member of the Phi Zappa Zeta sorority. She began her employment at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton OH followed by a position at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and finally with the Internal Revenue Service at Andover, Maryland. She had 42 years of government service.
Marie was active in several deaf-related organizations including the Maryland Association of the Deaf where she was treasurer for many years and the National Association of the Deaf. She was the chairman of Miss Deaf America contest as well as The Miss Maryland contest. She was also the chairman of the Eastern Deaf Timberfest, a non-profit organization. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her closeness to family, especially with her sister Debbie. Her favorite pastimes included bowling, traveling and attending Deaf Club functions. She was a fan of Ohio State football and the Baltimore Ravens. Although she was deaf from birth, she did not consider herself handicapped. She overcame many obstacles and had a great life.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday December 2, 2022 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.
Visitation 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
