Angela Imel
Angela M. Imel, age 55, of St. Henry, died Friday, January 5, 2024, at Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus.
She was born August 5, 1968, in Niceville, FL, to Larry & Pat (Romer) Balster. On April 12, 1997, she married Mark Imel. Angela's parents and husband all reside in St. Henry.
Angela is survived by six children and three stepchildren, Christina & Roddell Moore of Newark, Josh & fiancé Ashley Gibson of Lima, Danielle & fiancé Dominic Bolin of Sidney, Elizabeth & fiancé A.J. Rosenbeck of Celina, Jordan, and Jacob both of St. Henry, Alisha & Kevin Graves of Corpus Cristi, TX, Brittany & Kalvin Battenberg of Ft. Wayne, and Justin & Amanda Imel of Munster, IN, and Nicholas, love loss. Also surviving Angela are four grandchildren, Ezekiel, Emerie, Addie, and Cole, as well as her siblings, Debora & Steve Roth of Kettering, Doug & Lois Balster of Redwood City, CA, Greg & Noel Balster of Westchester, and Matt & Jean Balster of Horsehead, NY, her father and mother-in-law, Larry & Sandy Imel, and in-laws Greg & Alice Imel, all of Portland, IN.
Angela is preceded in death by an infant grandchild.
Angela was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry and was a graduate from St. Henry High School. She had worked at St. Henry Tru-Value Hardware store with her parents, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, as well as serving as a substitute teacher in many of the area schools. Angela received a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from St. Francis Business College, a Master's Degree in business from Nova University, and a Bachelor's Degree in teaching Pre-K - 4th grades from Wright State University. She found great joy in teaching the students in the Dayton Public School system. Angela touched many young lives whether through teaching Preschool -1st grades in Dayton or teaching preschool religion class in St. Henry, Angela loved children and she loved teaching. Angela treasured time with her family most, and she loved God.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Henry Church in St. Henry. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, January 12, and 9 to 10 am Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorials may be made to assist children in need in the Dayton Public Schools, or to The Cancer Association of Mercer County in Celina.
