Monica Boerger
Monica Margaret (Hoying) Boerger, Age 74 of Fort Loramie, passed away peacefully of natural causes while holding her daughter's hand Sunday morning, February 18, 2024, at the Ohio's Hospice of Miami County facility in Troy, Ohio.
She was born December 15, 1949, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Raymond & Ludwina (Meiring) Hoying. Since an early age, she was lovingly raised by her late stepmother, Helen (Poeppelman) Koverman Hoying. On January 3, 1970, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick, Monica married Kenneth H. Boerger who preceded her in death on January 20, 2019.
Surviving are four children: Craig & Lisa Boerger of Fort Loramie, Jason & Theresa Boerger of Fort Loramie, Kerri & Mark Lewis of Centerville and Kevin & Gina Boerger of Fort Loramie; 14 grandchildren: Reece, Alex, Addison and Beau Boerger, Claire and Jackson Boerger, Evan, Madison and Olivia Lewis and Nathan, Ella, Tessa, Lea and Ava Boerger; Six siblings: Martha Heitkamp of Sidney, Sr. Jean Rene Hoying of Dayton, Diane Gels of Columbus, Dave & Helen Hoying of St. Patrick, Tom & Rosemary Koverman of St. Marys and Rita & Dennis Sollmann of Sidney as well as brothers & sisters-in-law: Jim Heitbrink of Minster, Thomas & Jeanne Boerger of Fort Loramie, Linda & Jim Roesser of Moraine, Shirley & Tim Berning of St. Patrick and JoAnn & Mike Martin of Fort Loramie along with numerous nieces, nephews and special friend, Doug Ahlers of Fort Loramie.
She was preceded in death by two siblings, Mary Jean Heitbrink, Lois Drees and three brothers-in-law, Bill Drees, Thomas Heitkamp and Bill Gels.
Monica graduated with the Fort Loramie High School class of 1967 before going on to study cosmetology, obtaining her beautician's license. She worked as a beautician at the Foxy Lady Beauty Salon and First Place Designs, both in Sidney. She was retired from Champaign Residential Services Inc. after over 25 years of service where she had been a dedicated and loving caregiver for developmentally disabled adults. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Ann's Ladies Sodality and the Fort Loramie Legion Auxiliary where she had been a consistent helper for the chicken fry. Monica will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit. She enjoyed traveling and had the pleasure of visiting 49 states as well as a recent trip to Germany. She was dedicated to her family and farm-life. In recent years, she especially enjoyed following her grandchildren's academic and sports activities.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Andrew Reckers presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
