Robert Gehret
Robert "Bob" Luke Gehret, age 60, of Althoff Road, Versailles, passed away peacefully of natural causes Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2024, at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.
He was born April 22, 1964, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Vernon Gehret (who passed away in 1967) and Mary Ann (Broering) Gehret Grieshop who survives with her husband Louis Grieshop in Versailles.
On November 11, 2000, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Osgood, Bob married Patricia Jean (Smith) Gehret, who survives with one of two children, Hannah Marie Gehret (dec.) and Wesley Robert Gehret and his special friend Brittany Foster, both of Versailles.
Also surviving are 15 of 17 siblings from the Gehret and Grieshop unions: Ann & Leroy DeMange of Yorkshire; Tom Gehret of New Bremen; Jane & Steve Selhorst of North Star; Michael "Pickle" Gehret (dec.); Larry & Mary Lou Gehret of Sidney; Dennis Gehret (dec.); Carla & Roger Hartings of Maria Stein; Ted & Kellie Gehret of Minster; Lisa & Andy Paulus of Versailles; Susan & Tony Kramer of Osgood; Gene & Kathy Grieshop of Versailles; Jim Grieshop of Portland, Ind.; Larry & Ellen Grieshop of Versailles; Joyce Albers Frantz & Don Frantz of Fort Recovery; Linda & Ed Dircksen of Minster; Mike & Nancy Grieshop of Versailles; and Patty & John Schulze of Fort Loramie; mother-in-law, Virginia (Bergman) Smith of Versailles; and sisters & brothers-in-law, Teresa & Walter Bertke of Atlanta, Ga.; and Diana & David Brackman of Celina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts & cousins.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Smith and brothers & sisters-in-law: Ron Albers, Bernie Osterloh, Lora Poeppelman and Thomas Smith.
Mr. Gehret was a 1982 graduate of Versailles High School and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He had been employed at Clopay Building Products in Russia since 1986. Additionally, he owned and operated Homestead Nursery from his home, where he primarily raised evergreen trees. Bob was also an avid gardener and took pride in sharing the fresh produce with his family and friends. In his leisure, he especially enjoyed fishing and wooded nature walks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at St. Nicholas Church in Osgood with Rev. Stephen Jones presiding. Interment will follow at St. Martin Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Friday, 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 9 to 10 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
