Ralph Liette
Ralph Liette, age 90, of Chickasaw, died Monday, August 26, 2024, at Otterbein Senior Living in St. Marys. He was born March 18, 1934, in New Weston to the late Raymond & Elizabeth (Couchot) Liette. On July 13, 1955, he married Ella Mae (Ranly) Liette, and she preceded him in death in 2020.
He is also survived by children, Terry (Cindy) Liette of Coldwater, Carol (Ron) Siefring of Celina, Dave (Cheryl) Liette of Troy, Randy (Joann) Liette of Chickasaw and Gerry (Nancy) Liette of Virginia Beach, VA; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and siblings and in-laws, Robert (Edna) Stout of St. Henry, Madonna Liette of North Star, Judy (John) Knight of Florida, and Donald Ranly of Columbia, MO.
He is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws, Ruth (Charles) Hiestand, Norma (Arthur) Rammel, Delores Redinbaugh, Helen Stout, Lowell Liette, Martha Susanne (Charles) Gilliland, Constance (Urban)(Earnest Monnin) Winner, Alvina (Walter) Klosterman, Norbert (Ethel) Ranly, Fr. Victor Ranly, Sr. Teresa Joseph, Hilda (Florus )(Rosemary) Obringer, Paul (Erma)(Marie) Ranly, Lucille (Ben) Droesch, Orville (Alma) Ranly, Arthur (Eileen) Ranly, Rita (Ray) Flaute, Fr. Ernest Ranly and Joann Ranly.
He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw, the Men's sodality, and the church choir. Ralph was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of the Chickasaw VFW and the Maria Stein American Legion. Ralph was a former mayor of Chickasaw, a Board of Trustees member of the Mercer County District Library, and president of the former Neighbors Water Company in Chickasaw. He spent most his working career in the lumber business, designing kitchens for both Shockman Lumber of St. Henry and Coldwater Lumber. He was an avid woodworker and cabinet builder in retirement, as his artistic cabinet designs can be found all across the tri-county area. Ralph enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a major supporter of all Marion Local Flyers' school activities.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Precious Blood Church.
Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, Chickasaw.
