Larry Badgett
Larry E. Badgett, age 74, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born April 20, 1950 in Celina. On September 18, 1982 he married Tammy (McMurray) Badgett and she survives at the residence in St. Marys.
Other survivors include his mother, Wilda "Jean" (Lawwill) Fortkamp, Maria Stein; children, Melissa (Chad) Weaver, Bluffton, Ohio, Amanda (Ryan) Piper, New Bremen and David Badgett, St.Marys; grandchildren, Carsen L., Aiden and Gaven Weaver, Carsen J., Cayden and Tiabelle Piper; sisters, Linda (Dan) Roebuck, Rockford, and Carol (Joe) Meyer, Maria Stein; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his father, James Badgett; stepfather, Linus Fortkamp; brother, James Badgett; and grandson Owen Weaver.
Larry was a 1968 graduate of Coldwater High School and went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in business from Columbus Business College in Columbus, Ohio. He retired from Minster Bank in St. Marys as a branch manager after 27 years of service.
A past member of St. Marys Rotary, Larry dedicated much of his time to improving his community. His passion for conservation led him to become involved with Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
Larry's commitment to his hometown extended further through his involvement with the St. Marys Chamber of Commerce. His leadership and enthusiasm were evident in his service on the Summerfest Committee, where he contributed for many years, helping to bring joy and celebration to the community he loved.
Larry enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and watching the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, and he will be missed deeply by them all.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Cisco Funeral Home, 1175 E. Greenville Rd., St. Marys, Ohio 45885; where the family will receive friends from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
