Village asks voters to keep lights on

By Abigail Miller

MONTEZUMA- Montezuma voters at the Nov. 5 general election will decide whether to renew a five-year, $44-per-parcel levy to continue funding lights for streets and other public areas.

Mayor Steve Fortman said the funds go toward Montezuma's street lights, as the village does not have a large income. The village has about 20 streetlights.

The levy was first passed in 2008 and brings in about $6,468 each year to help cover the cost of electricity and maintenance.
