Leander Moeder
Leander J. Moeder, age 86 of Maria Stein, Ohio, died on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at his home. He was born on January 20, 1938 in St. Henry, Ohio to the late Julius & Anna (Winklejohn) Moeder. He married Jeanette Luebke on October 10, 1959 and she survives in Maria Stein.
He is also survived by children: Gary & Helen Moeder, New Bremen, Karen & Kevin Barga, Maria Stein, Jeffry & Cindy Moeder, Maria Stein, Jean & Gregg McCollum, New Bremen, Judy & Brian Thobe, Trenton, Thomas & Angela Moeder, Maria Stein, Keith & Maleea Moeder, St. Marys, Lisa & Joe Bragg, Cassella, Craig & Brooke Moeder, Maria Stein. 32 grandchildren, 66 Great Grandchildren with 3 on the way, sister Rose Ann Siefring, Philothea, sisters-in-law: Rosie Moeder, St. Henry and Irene Woehrmyer Minster.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Marcella & Aloysius Larger, Mary Matilda Moeder, Rita & Paul Jones, Norbert & Roberta Moeder, Ruth & Fred Krebs, Richard Moeder, Victor Moeder, Jerome & Marilyn Moeder, Mary Adeline Moeder, Charles Moeder, in-laws: Luetta & Larry Schemmel, Marie & Leo Wente, Lawrence & Rosalie Luebke, Alvin & Maryann Luebke, Thomas Woehrmyer, Gregory & JoAnn Luebke, Paul & Della Mae Luebke.
Leander was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Men's Sodality, Minster F.O.E., Financial Officer for Maria Stein American Legion, Financial Officer for Country Fest, President of Mercer County Farm Bureau. He was in the Army Reserve; he worked at Pax Steel and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and Cleveland Cavaliers. He loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events and the Marion Local Flyers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, November 14, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein.
Burial with full military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Maria Stein.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, on Wednesday, November 13, from 2 to 7 PM and on Thursday, November 14, from 9 to 10 AM.
