The Ohio Department of Education & Workforce's nutrition mascot Munch the Fox joined St. Marys' Rocky the Roughrider Tuesday to help hand out free meals to around 1,100 St. Marys City School students at the intermediate school. St. Marys has been a part of USDA's Summer Nutrition Program for five years. Every Tuesday, each student receives a week's worth of free meals - five lunches and five breakfasts along with a half gallon of both white and chocolate milk.
All children ages 1-18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites, per ODEW. St. Marys' program runs 11 a.m.-1 p.m. every Tuesday from June 3 to July 22. Celina City Schools also serves as a free meal site, with the next distribution day June 16.
