Robert Stump
Robert G. Stump, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 28, 2026. Robert was born on August 1, 1929 to Simon and Sarah Stump.
He graduated from Jackson High School in 1947 and began his career as a life long farmer.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Dunn and his second wife Margaret Austerman, his oldest son Larry Stump and step daughter Linda (Austerman) Snyder. He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers and spouses, Clarence and Pearl Stump, Leonard and Erma Stump, Leon and Jeanie Stump, Jim and Bernice Moneysmith, Roscoe Stump, Marvin and Loretta McClannan, Marvin Stump, Carl and Pat Stump, and Alvin and Helen Stump.
Robert is survived by his sister and husband Esta and Dick Kiser, and sister in -laws Judy and Janice Stump. Robert is also survived by his son Bobby and Erma Stump, daughter in law Cheryl (Larry deceased) Stump and son in law Dave (Linda deceased) Snyder. Robert has 10 grandchildren, Jeremy and Shellie Stump, Justin and Pam Stump, Andrew and Lanelle Stump, Brian and Mende Timmerman, Rob and Christy Timmerman, Ron and Jodi Malloy, Lee and Heather Stammen, Doug and Kelly Kershner, Josh Snyder and Adam Snyder. He also has 21 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with.
Robert worked his whole life as a farmer. He truly loved farming as he told his sons many times "If you like your job, its not work". Robert definitely loved his job as a farmer! He leaves a legacy to his family of hard work and his love for both land and family.
Robert enjoyed spending his free time playing cards and visiting with his longtime friends. He also had much admiration for his "Church Family" and friends at Pleasant Hill Church.
The family would like to thank Rest Haven nursing home in Greenville and Day City Hospice where we had nothing but praise for the staff and their services.
There will be a visitation held on Monday May 4, 2026 from 2pm to 6 pm at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN 47390. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday May 5, 2026 at 10:30 am with Pastor Bruce Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Fort Recovery, OH.
