Martha Heck
Martha P. Heck, 69, 220 W. Walnut St., Mendon, died at 11:40 a.m. Oct. 27, 2006, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born April 14, 1937, in Bellefontaine, to Zura and Elsie Davis Dunno. On Oct. 8, 1955, she married James A. Heck, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Andy (Nickie), Mendon, and Mike (Carrie), Van Wert; two daughters, Rebecca Heck Getzindiner, Cambridge Springs, Pa., and Jessica (Mike) Heck-Stelzer, Mendon; two brothers, Frank Dunno, Celina, and Richard Dunno, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Alice Dunbar, Defiance; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She retired after 25 years of service as an aide at the Mendon and Parkway school districts. A 1955 graduate of Van Wert High School, she was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Rockford and its women's group and taught catechism and served as secretary of the church council for many years. She also was a member and 20-year secretary/treasurer of the Grand Lake Motorcycle Club, and a member and 25-year secretary of the Mendon Women's Civic Club.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Tom Brenberger officiating. Burial is at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon.
Contributions can be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
