Eldon Grapner
Eldon Leroy Grapner, 94, of Celina, died Dec. 22, 2007, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born May 16, 1913, near Celina, to Edward and Jennie Findley Grapner. On Feb. 19, 1939, he married Mildred Koldewey, who died July 12, 2005.
Surviving are a son, Randy (Cindy), Celina; a daughter, Pamela (Eldon) Mitchell, Dandridge, Tenn.; and three grandsons.
Deceased are a brother and his wife, Lloyd and Margaret Grapner.
He and his wife owned and operated Grapner Shoes in Celina and Minster for many years. He was a graduate of Washington Township High School and the International School of Accounting in Chicago. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, and served on the church council for many years. He was past president of the Celina Sertoma Club and the Celina Retail Merchants Association and served as secretary-treasurer of the Celina Chamber of Commerce. In retirement, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and a member of the Mercer County Sportsmen's Assoc.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Paul Baglien officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
