Donald Thieman
Donald F. Thieman, 74, 280 N. Hanover Street, Minster, died at 7:15 a.m. Jan. 15, 2008, at his residence.
He was born June 23, 1933, in Minster, to Charles and Gertrude Fortman Thieman. On Nov. 10, 1956, he married Joan Bensman, who died Sept. 21, 1989. On Sept. 25, 1993, he married Verna Westmark, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Maria (Brian) Schwieterman, New Bremen; stepdaughters, Judith Hostiuck, Deborah (Rick) Hostiuck, and Christine (Ray) Hedger, all of Cincinnati, and Patricia Westmark (Tony Daykin), Houston, Texas, and Carolyn Westmark, Richmond, Va.; a son-in-law, Edward Dircksen, Minster; a brother, John, Rockport, Texas; a brother-in-law, Bob Callahan, Darien, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Susan; a stepson, Steven Westmark; and a sister, Mary Ann Callahan.
He was a farmer and former president and board member of the Minster Locker. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Kiwanis, all of Minster. He also was a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau, a former board member for Minster Local Schools and former board of director for Minster Bank for 12 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Europe.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding. Burial with full military honors by the Minster Firing Squad is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
