Goldie Bittner, 84, died Sept. 29, 2008, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Care Center, Akron.

She was born Sept. 3, 1924, to David and Sophia Kagan Zimmerman. On June 9, 1947, she married Albert Bittner, who died Aug. 8, 1997.

Surviving are three sons, Phillip (Gena), Celina, Kenneth (Diane), North Canton, and Martin, Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Sharon, Oberlin; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

She worked for the University of Akron in the law library. She was Queen Mum for the Red Hat Society of Four Seasons while living in Kent.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery, Rabbi David Lipper officiating.

Open house for family and friends is 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Ken and Diane Bittner.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Greater Akron Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
