Donald Bertke
Donald J. Bertke, 74, 1025 Hemlock St., Celina, died at 5:15 a.m. Dec. 21, 2008, at Celina Manor Nursing Home, Celina.
He was born March 31, 1934, in Maria Stein, to Alvin and Alvina Dippold Bertke. On June 1, 1957, he married Marjorie Hein, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Jerald (Jeni), Celina; a daughter, Jean (Tom) Bollenbacher, Celina; a brother, Bob (Linda), Waco, Texas; a sister, Jeanette (Maurice) Schmiesing, Minster; a brother-in-law, Mark (Irene) Hein, Coldwater; a sister-in-law, Priscilla (Norbert) Garman, Chickasaw; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Nancy Bertke; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Elmer Riethman.
He worked at the former Mersman Brothers, Celina, for 35 years and Ametek for 10 years before he retired. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Celina. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina, with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and before 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina.
