GRAND LAKE - Fish kills likely due to low dissolved oxygen levels caused by an algae die-off were reported around the lake during the weekend.
Hot, humid temperatures during the past week have promoted algae growth, particularly in dead-end lake channels where there is little water movement. [More]

CELINA - The Grand Lake Mariners took three big steps over the weekend toward earning a berth in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League playoffs.
Grand Lake blasted its first four home runs of the summer while sweeping a road doubleheader - 10-6 and 9-3 - over Lexington on Saturday and the Mariners then rallied to knock off Dayton 4-3 on Sunday to increase their winning streak to four games. [More]

The Coldwater Junior ACME season came to an end on Sunday as the Cavaliers bowed out of the state tournament at Bryan's Sumpter Field.
