Richard Schulze
Richard B. Schulze, 84, Anna, passed away at his residence of natural causes in the early morning of Nov. 6, 2013.
He was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Fort Loramie to the late Fred and Mary Streaker Schulze. On June 11, 1957, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Albers, who died Feb. 24, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Roger (Pam) Schulze, Sidney, and Eugene (Laura) Schulze, Sidney; six grandchildren, Melinda (Mitch) Paulus, Sidney, Robert McReynolds and Tonya Wooten, Anna, Tracy (Charles) Oduro, Piqua, Brian (Krista) Schulze, Anna, Nathan Schulze and Trisha Schulze, Sidney; eight great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Reagan and Morgan Paulus, Liam McReynolds, Mason Riggs, Maya Oduro, and Isaiah and Caleb Schulze; five siblings, Doris (Elmer) Rutschilling, Osgood, Wilfred Schulze, Piqua, Ray (Betty) Schulze, Sidney, Ed (Ruth) Schulze, Newport, and Lavern (Diane) Schulze, St. Henry; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Charles Mertz, Sidney, Marlene McMollen, Troy, and Karen Schulze, Minster.
Deceased are three infant children, Mary Ann, Larry and Patty Schulze; two siblings, Alma Mertz and Fred Schulze; and a sister-in-law, Mary Schulze.
He worked at Crown Equipment Corp., New Bremen, retiring in 1994. He had been engaged in farming all of his working life and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Maria Stein Knights of St. John. He enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a noticeable preference for John Deere tractors and never missed a chance to play cards, tell a story, listen to polka music or speak a little German.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, McCartyville, the Rev. John W. Tonkin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie, and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
