The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Richard Haffner
Richard L. Haffner age 80, Portland, Indiana, passed away Sunday in the Jay County Hospital.
He was born January 18, 1937 the son of Russell and Jeanette (Bennett) Haffner.
He was a 1955 Portland High School graduate and served with the US Navy from 1955-1959. He had worked at Sheller-Globe, Portland Forge and Naas Foods in Portland then B F Goodrich in Woodburn retiring in 2002.
He was married February 15, 1997 to Martha Chowning who survives.
He was a member and deacon at the Hopewell Church, Portland Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 211.
Surviving are his wife Martha, two sons Russell Haffner and Randy Haffner both of Portland, daughter Jennifer Wendel of Portland, three step-sons Randy Mock of Portland, Lonnie Mock of Portland and Ronald Dale Mock of Celina, one step-daughter Janie Burklo of Celina, one brother David Haffner of Arcanum, Ohio, two sisters Nancy Kelly and Sandra Drumm both of Portland, twenty-three grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman with Pastors Herb Hummel and Ruth Funk presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #211.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM.
