Kaycie Wissman, Minster, was crowned Miss Lake Festival during the scholarship pageant Monday night held at the Celina Education Complex auditorium.

CELINA - Minster native Kaycie Wissman was crowned 2019 Miss Lake Festival during Monday night's scholarship competition, which kicked off the Celina Lake Festival.
Wissman, 18, shared the stage with eight other contestants. No teen competition was held this year, but as a surprise, 2018's Miss Lake Festival Outstanding Teen, Maleah Lee, was named the 2019 Miss Lake Festival Outstanding Teen after presenting her farewell video.
Wissman is the daughter of Ted and Amy Wissman and will be a freshman at Ohio University in the upcoming school year studying biology/pre-physician's assistant. As the winner, she received a $4,000 scholarship. She also took home the Commitment to Excellence Award as well as the interview and talent awards, each accompanied by a $500 scholarship.
Contestants participate in a private interview prior to the program and answer an onstage question, which counts for 15% of their score.
Wissman's platform was "Compassion Into Action: Promoting Volunteerism." When asked what servant leadership meant to her, she said it meant getting involved no matter where you are or how old you are. People can make an impact, big or small, and they don't need to give money to do it; sometimes it's as simple as donating one's time or giving someone a smile, she said.
For her talent, Wissman, wearing a sparkling white dress, sang an ode to standing alone in the face of hardship. In the evening portion, she was dressed in a pink-red dress with a subtle leg opening by her left leg, with shimmering necklace and earrings.
First runner-up and winner of a $1,500 scholarship was Riley Post, 20, St. Henry. She is the daughter of Ron and Sandra Post and her platform was "The 'Write' Mindset." During the evening-wear portion, she wore a form-fitting, sparkling robin's egg dress with a left leg slit.
Contestant Macey Thees, 18, Celina, was named second runner-up, which comes with a $1,000 scholarship. She also won the People's Choice Award, which came with a $200 scholarship. She is the daughter of Angie Rodriguez.
Genoa Arling, 18, Minster, was given the Miss Congeniality Award, which is voted upon by Miss Lake Festival contestants and the Lake Fest Committee. It comes with a $200 scholarship.
Other candidates were Alexis Heath, 18, St. Henry; Gabriella Posada, 19, Celina; Ashley Ray, 20, St. Henry; and Makenzie Regedanz, 20, Celina.
All candidates received a $500 scholarship to Wright State University, and each non-finalist received another $500 scholarship. Contestants also received $200 from sponsors, which could be used to cover costs of the pageant or as additional scholarship money.
Miss Lake Festival 2018 Cami Moehler and Lee performed throughout the evening, and were assisted by Miss Ohio 2019 Carolina Grace Williams.
Wissman will reign over the annual Celina Lake Festival, which begins Friday. She is eligible to compete in next year's Miss Ohio competition, which is part of the Miss America pageant.
