Roseann Puthoff
Roseann M Puthoff, age 97 of Minster, Ohio, died at 10:30 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen, Ohio.
She was born on June 15, 1925 in Carthagena, Ohio to the late Bernard & Clara (Wendel) Meier. She married James Donald Nelson on April 26, 1947. Upon his passing in 1954, she married Leander Puthoff on October 19, 1955 until his death in 1983.
She is survived by children: Michael Nelson, Jamestown, Ohio, Dennis & Ann Nelson, New Bremen, Thomas & Deborah Nelson, Pickerington, Linda & Daniel Schmiesing, Ft. Loramie, Deborah & William Bornhorst, Ft. Loramie, Lisa Freytag, Minster, daughter-in-law Patty Nelson, New Bremen, 29 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild, brothers Ernest & Pat Meier, Seattle, WA, Charles & Mary Meier, Celina, sister Janet & Ronald Stachler, Celina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first & second husbands, son Steven, son-in-law Joseph Freytag, great grandson Keegan Freytag, sisters: Mary Evelyn & Norbert Kohnen and Lucille & Lowell Loughridge.
Roseann was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster where she was a custodian for the religious education center for many years. She also worked at the Auglaize ABC Center sorting coupons and was a member of the New Bremen Senior Citizen Center.
She would embroider pillows and would bake apple pie, homemade donuts, coffee cake and fried chicken. She would walk a lot and did not get her driver's license until she was 60 years old and needed pillows to see over the steering wheel. She enjoyed senior citizen travels and vacations with the family. She liked gardening, canning, and going to adoration. She was a woman of great faith. She loved holding babies and being with her grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Celina, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Monday, May 8, from 3 to 7 PM and from 9:00 to 9:30 AM on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Lake Hospice and American Heart Association.
