Rosemary Bensman
Rosemary A. Bensman, age 93, of St. Henry, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
She was born February 13, 1931, in St. Henry, Ohio, to the late Henry & Philomena (Sutter) Lange. On December 27, 1952, at St. Henry Church, she married Leroy Bensman. Rosemary and Leroy were married just short of 67 years until he preceded her in death on December 2, 2019.
Rosemary is survived by six children: Morris & Karen Bensman of Mount Vernon, Ohio; Diana & Dallas Luttrell of Celina; Mary Bohn of North Hollywood, Calif.; Linda & Joe Seger of Rossburg; Marvin & Claudia Bensman of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; and Dennis & Darlene Bensman of Powell, Ohio. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, as well as siblings and in-laws: Betty Lange, Vernon Lange, Virgil Lange all of St. Henry; Marjorie Schoenherr of Ft. Recovery; JoAnn Davis of Celina; Ruth & Paul Backs of Ft. Recovery; Esther Lange of St. Henry; Virginia & Earl Goewert of St. Henry; Luella & Glen Klosterman of Galena; Betty & Herb Hamberg of Coldwater; Shirley & Dennis Hartke of Sidney; Lucy Lange of London, Ohio; Dave & Pam Lange of Coldwater; Tom & Brenda Lange of St. Henry; Roland Bensman of Versailles; and Betty Lou Walterbusch of Maria Stein.
Rosemary was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws: Donald & Betty Lange, Alfred (Fritz) Lange, Henry (Dutch) Lange, Katie Lange, Regina Lange, Ed Davis, Vincent Schoenherr, Alvin & Joann Bensman, Virgil & Mildred Bensman, Valinus & Pat Bensman, Lester & Phyllis Bensman, Ivo Walterbusch, and Sharon Bensman, as well as her father and mother-in-law, August & Marie Bensman.
Rosemary was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. Her very first job was working as a nanny to the Bleicher Family of Dayton, Ohio. She then had worked as a seamstress at the former Buckeye Apparel Co. in Coldwater, the former New Idea factory in Coldwater, and Huffy's in Celina. She loved playing Bingo and Canasta. Leroy and Rosemary loved to dance together and were the first ones out on the dance floor. She enjoyed music and playing board games and word find puzzles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, March 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
