* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana and central, southwest, and west central Ohio.
* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

Robert Portz
Robert L. Portz, 71, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Mercer Health in Coldwater.
He was born on October 6, 1953, in Celina, to the late Charles and Maxine (Shumaker) Portz.
Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen "Kathy" A. (Huber) Portz, whom he married on June 14, 1975; his children, Danielle Weitzel and fiancé, Ryan Rodriguez, of Celina, Jennifer (Martin) Cartwright of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, and Robert J. (Emily) Portz of Fort Recovery; his grandchildren, Andrew, Caitlin, and Megan Weitzel, Quentin, Avery, and Noelle Grieshop, Noah Cartwright, and Maleah Portz; his brothers, Jim Boyd of Fort Recovery and Joseph (Deb) Portz of Wapakoneta; and his in-laws, Jean (Mark) Bell of Piqua, Mary Huber, Nancy Huber, Larry Huber, Randy (Diane) Huber, and Lisa (Robert) Birt, all of Coldwater, and Michelle (Larry) Dues of Montezuma.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Boyd and Rick Portz; and his in-laws, Joseph and Agnes Huber, Richard Huber, and Teresa Huber.
Robert was a graduate of Fort Recovery High School. He worked for Cooper Farms for 22 years as a supervisor until he retired in 2015. Robert was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, the Fort Recovery Knights of Columbus - Council 3224, where he has served as a Past Grand Knight, the Fort Recovery VFW Auxiliary 6515, and the Friends of the Library. Robert was an avid Fort Recovery fan and was an avid videographer and supporter of all things happening in Fort Recovery.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, with Deacon Dan Kahlig officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Guests may visit with Robert's family on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be held at 6:45 PM on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Fort Recovery Community Foundation, intended for the Friends of the Arts or the Friends of the Library.
