June Hanni
June Rose Hanni, 97, of Celina, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Otterbein St. Marys Senior Life Community.
Born on June 3, 1927, in Celina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Orie C. and Margaret J. (Fifer) Hight. On September 13, 1946, she married the love of her life, Leon P. Hanni, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2002.
June is lovingly remembered by her three devoted daughters: Lynn (William) Louthan of Fort Wayne, Jayne (Bill) Shady of Fort Wayne, and Dawn (Ed) Weirrick of Rockford. Her legacy lives on through her seven beloved grandchildren: Londa, Laura, Luke, Jamie, Melissa, Christopher, and Brett, as well as her seventeen great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Helen (Harold) Freeman, Ruth (Glen) Figley, and Owen Hight, each of whom she held dear.
A proud 1945 graduate of Celina High School, June dedicated her life to her family as a loving homemaker. Once her children were grown, she found fulfillment working at Briarwood Village in Coldwater and later at Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina.
June was a long-time member of Grace Missionary Church in Celina, where her faith shone brightly. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and was an active member of the women's missionary society. Singing, gardening, and tending to her flowers brought her peace and happiness. Above all, June treasured her family, who will deeply miss her gentle spirit and the unconditional love she so freely gave.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Cisco Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Meyer officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather an hour prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Swamp College Cemetery in Celina.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Missionary Church or Grand Lake Hospice in June's honor.
