Barbara Rohr
Barbara A. Rohr, age 80, of Chickasaw, died on February 18, 2025, at 4:08 A.M. at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater, Ohio after a brief illness.
She was born on December 17, 1944, in St. Marys, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Margaret M. (Heckler) Reineke. Barbara leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and devotion to her family in her husband James A. Rohr, Sr. whom she married on August 29, 1962, and survives in Chickasaw, her children: Richard (Shelly) Rohr of New Bremen, James (Linda) Rohr, Jr. of Piqua, Paula Rohr of New Bremen, William (Julie) Rohr of Maria Stein, and Brian (Jill) Rohr of Ft. Loramie; as well as her 16 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way).
Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: James (Beverly) Reineke of New Knoxville, Shirley Eshelman of St. Marys, and Charles Reineke of Florida. Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a grandson, Zac Hemmelgarn; her sisters Janet Harruff and Mary Myers, and her brothers: Eugene, Robert, Donald, and Joseph Reineke.
Barbara was a devoted member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw where she attended daily Mass. Her life was characterized by her dedication and talent to her profession as a self-employed interior painter for over fifty years. In addition to her painting business, she devoted 25 years of her life to her work at the Chickasaw Qwik Stop. She was a member of the St. Marys VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and loved to spend her time gambling and playing scratch-offs and pull tabs. She had spent many years playing softball, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trap-shooting. Barbara was also an exceptional baker known for her cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, brown sugar pies, and stuffing which was all loved by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen with Rev. Father Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery outside of Chickasaw.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. on Saturday morning, AT THE CHURCH.
