Linda Wahrer
Linda Jean (Weiland) Wahrer, age 84, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully at Otterbein Senior Life Community in St. Marys.
She was born on January 8, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Walter L. and Marjorie E. (Hayes) Weiland. On September 22, 1962, she married Jon L. Wahrer, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2015.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Matthew D. (Jennifer) Wahrer of Ottawa, Ohio, and Michael K. (Carey) Wahrer of St. Marys; as well as her six cherished grandchildren: Mollie, Olivia, Noah, Taylor (Leah), Landen, and Korbin. She is also survived by her brother, Walter J. Weiland of Indianapolis, and her sister, Ellen Ann Gamble of Huntington, Indiana.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bill Gamble.
A 1959 graduate of Wabash High School in Wabash, Indiana, Linda dedicated many years of her life to working at Fleagle Family Dentistry in St. Marys. She began her career there in 1964 as a receptionist and quickly became a familiar and welcoming presence to countless patients over the decades. She officially retired in 2000 but continued to work part-time, remaining active and engaged until her passing.
Faith was a central part of Linda's life. She was a devoted member of Wayne Street Church in St. Marys, where she found fellowship and purpose. Deeply involved in her community, she took great joy in attending local events and supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities. She was especially passionate about Roughrider football and proudly cheered on the all-brass band. Linda was a dedicated sports fan who enjoyed watching just about any game.
Linda also had a creative spirit and gifted hands. She loved sewing, crocheting, and doing counted cross-stitch, often creating beautiful handmade gifts for her friends and family. Her thoughtful, handcrafted pieces were treasured by those who received them and reflected the care and love she put into everything she did.
Christmas was by far her favorite holiday, and she loved celebrating it with family and friends. She also treasured her time with her bridge club, where she enjoyed the game and the lifelong friendships it brought her.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, with Rev. Tim Benjamin officiating.
Memorial contributions in Linda's memory may be made to the St. Marys Public Library (140 S. Chestnut St., St. Marys, OH 45885), Wayne Street Church (130 N. Wayne St., St. Marys, OH 45885), or Grand Lake Hospice (1122 E. Spring St., St. Marys, OH 45885).
