James Schelby
James Schelby, 61, 420 Woodward St., St. Marys, died at 2:28 p.m. Jan. 20, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, following a brief illness.
He was born March 11, 1945, in Topeka, Kan., to Garold and Martha Baker Schelby. On June 14, 1969, he married Mary Mengerink, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Russell, Columbus; two daughters, Shawna (Russell) Miller, Orrville, and Amanda, Columbus; a sister, Mary (Thomas) Honecker, Forest; a mother-in-law, Gertrude Mengerink, Holgate; and two grandsons.
He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an instructor at the St. Marys Junior Rifle Club. He was a 1964 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, and attended Ohio State University.
He was a member of the St. Marys Tri-Squares Dance Club; the National Rifle Association; American Legion Post 323, St. Marys; Western Ohio Fish and Game Club; Mercer County Sportsmen Club; and a member and past trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
