Edward Hasselman
Edward G. Hasselman, 69, of Grandview Drive, Fort Loramie, died at 9:03 a.m. Jan. 31, 2007, at Wilson Memorial Hospital emergency room, Sidney. Death was due to advanced congestive heart failure.
He was born April 11, 1937, in Darke County, to Alfred and Paulene Blakely Hasselman. On Oct. 22, 1958, he married Rita Wendeln Hasselman, who died July 15, 2004.
Survivors are a son, Douglas, Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Denise (Bill) Templeton, Alpharette, Ga., and Jayne (Frank) Overman, New Bremen; and five grandchildren.
He was mayor of Fort Loramie for the past seven years and was a past council member. He retired in 1999, from Minster Machine Co. He was a 1955 graduate of Fort Loramie High School and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie.
He was a co-founder/charter member of the CIC Committee; charter member Fort Loramie Football Boosters; Fort Loramie Watershed Association; Fort Loramie Racing Club; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1473, Celina; and past member of Fort Loramie Kiwanis.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Redskin Memorial Park Fund.
