Walter Barhorst
Walter H. Barhorst, 83, of Sidney, died at 10:20 a.m. Nov. 25, 2007, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
He was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Sidney, to Julius and Anna Kuether Barhorst. On Oct. 14, 1961, he married June A. Peacock, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Mark A., New Bremen, and Dennis R., Winder, Ga.; a daughter, Darla (Rick) McMiller, Celina; a stepson, David E. Clem, Port Jefferson; a stepdaughter, Nancy L. Blevins, Anna; two brothers, Harold, St. Patrick, and Clarence, Greenville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Douglas; and a sister, Sister Julianna.
He retired in 1992 as a gauge inspector for the Ford Motor Co., Lima, where he worked for 25 years. He served on the Shelby County board of directors for Pioneer Rural Electric and was a member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Anna, and Moose Lodge 568, Sidney.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Michael Althauser officiating. Burial is at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
