Orville Engle
Orville M. Engle, 83, 6190 Shelley Road, Mendon, died at 11:36 a.m. Nov. 25, 2007, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born July 4, 1924, in Lima, to Jesse and Hattie Dupler Engle. On Aug. 8, 1942, he married Catherine L. "Midge" Nolan, who died Nov. 4, 1987.
Survivors are three sons, Michael (Jane), Wapakoneta, Danny (Jenis), Cridersville, and Patrick (Betty), Mendon; a son-in-law, Jack Roetgerman, Minster; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Kristina Roetgerman; and three brothers, Walter, Oren and Brice.
He retired as a finish carpenter at Kitchen's Inc., Van Wert, and was a farmer. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with the Army Corps of Engineers in Europe and the South Pacific. He attended the former Lima Central High School and in later years received a diploma from Lima Central High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon, the Rev. Dan Holbrook officiating. Burial is at Tomlinson Cemetery near Mendon, where graveside military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
