Alga Bruey
Alga A. Bruey, 104, formerly of state Route 705, Yorkshire, died at 12 a.m. April 26, 2008, at The Gardens at St. Henry, where he had resided since 2004.
He was born Jan. 4, 1904, in Osgood, to John and Matilda Phlipot Bruey. On Oct 18, 1942, he married Bernadine Poeppelman, who died March 30, 2004.
Surviving are a son, Paul J. (Margie), Osgood; four daughters, Barbara (Roger) Kremer, Carthagena, Beverly (Dennis) Balster, Vandalia, Beatrice (Del) Balster, Tipp City, and Bridget (John) Anthony, Cincinnati; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Leo, Leonard, John and Marcellus; four sisters, Josephine Bruey, Ella Simon, Mary Brown and Agnes Daniels, and one grandchild.
He retired in 1973 as president of Osgood State Bank, where he served as board chair until 1993. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, the men's sodality of the church and a past church treasurer.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial is at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
