Luella Amstutz
Luella Amstutz, 92, Berne, Ind., died at 8:25 a.m. Jan. 17, 2011, at the Swiss Village in Berne, Ind.
She was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Celina to Ralph and Martha Cordier Monroe. On Dec. 14, 1947, she married Walter Amstutz, who is deceased.
Surviving is a son, John (Arlene) Amstutz, Geneva, Ind.; two sisters, Luetta Hill, Celina, and Marjorie (Rudy) Brehm, Celina; a son-in-law, Virg Gierhart, Bryant, Ind.; and two grandchildren.
Also deceased is a daughter, J. Suzanne Gierhart; two brothers, Irvin and Clifford Monroe; six sisters, Helen Monroe, Opal Robbins, Beulah Fennig, Bernice Monroe, Ruth Powell and Lela Snider; and a grandson.
She was a co-owner of Berne Hardware Co. in Berne, Ind. She also had worked at the Karsch Stone Company in Celina.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Swiss Village Chapel in Berne, Ind., the Rev. Anita Rediger officiating. Burial is at MRE Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. today and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne, Ind.
