Paul Niekamp
Paul H. Niekamp, 86, of St. Henry, died Nov. 25, 2012, at The Gardens of St. Henry.
He was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Celina, to Andrew and Alma Bertke Niekamp. On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Dorothy Rutkowski, who died July 6, 2000. In 2002, he married Betty Zakrzewski, who died in 2006.
Surviving are nine sons, Mike (Barb) Niekamp, St. Henry, Pat (Mary) Niekamp, Fort Recovery, Ron (Doris) Niekamp, Findlay, Bob (Ginny) Niekamp, Stevens Point, Wis., Paul Jr. (Judy) Niekamp, St. Henry, Tom (Janice) Niekamp, Centerville, Jack (Becky) Niekamp, Stevens Point, Joe (Cheryl) Niekamp, St. Henry, and Tim (Debbie) Niekamp, Palmer, Alaska; four siblings, Tom (Mary) Niekamp, St. Henry, Phyliss (Joe) Miller, Battle Creek, Mich., Kathy (Jerry) Pulskamp, New Bremen, and Jim (Margie) Niekamp, St. Henry; a sister-in-law, Janet Niekamp-Bolton, Centerville; 38 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are siblings, Les (Beverly) Niekamp, Ethel (Elmer) Rinderle, Joan (Maurice) Rammel and Andrew Niekamp, and two grandchildren.
He retired from sales at the former Mercer Beverage in St. Henry and formerly served as village clerk. He was a World War II veteran who served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, the church choir and the Knights of Columbus, all of St. Henry. He also was a charter member of the St. Henry American Legion.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Benedict Magabe officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
