Nancy Niemeyer
Nancy J. Niemeyer, 76, New Knoxville, died at 10:35 p.m. Jan. 4, 2013, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Lima, the only child of Adiel "Art" and Lenora (Sunderman) Wierwille. She married James Niemeyer on June 19, 1954, and he survives.
She is also survived by her children, Annette (Pat) Thompson, Kent (Annette) Niemeyer, Marta (Jesse) Hegemier and Michael (and friend, Susan) Niemeyer, all from the New Knoxville; her grandchildren, Sarah (Luke) Baker, Jill (Matt) Gabel, Nathan (Andrea) King, Joshua Niemeyer, Brooke Niemeyer, Kelly Welsch, Ashley (Jay) Hegemier, Alycia Niemeyer and Taylor Niemeyer; by her great-grandchildren, Kate Tinnerman, Mason Baker, Ellie Gabel, John Gabel, Ava Welsch, Audrey Welsch and Maxwell Hegemier; her sister-in-law, Dorothy McMullen, St. Marys, and her brother-in-law, Ned (Linda) Niemeyer, New Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy was a 1954 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She had worked at Brookside Laboratories in New Knoxville as a lab technician and as a purchasing agent for 17 years. She was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville.
Nancy enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states in our country. She also traveled to Europe, Africa, Canada, Mexico and New Zealand. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She was an avid bird watcher. Nancy adored her family and her many friends who visited her frequently.
Funeral rites are 6 p.m. Tuesday at First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, the Rev. Dr. David Williams officiant. Following the service will be a fellowship time at the church.
Calling is 3-6 p.m. Tuesday in the Heritage Room of the church.
Memorial may be given to the church's youth ministry fund.
