Quinton Slone
Quinton Slone, 74, St. Marys, died at 7 a.m. Sept. 16, 2013, at Golden Living Center, St. Marys.
He was born June 28, 1939, in Pippa Passes, Ky., to Amos and Cloia Slone. He married Betty Slone on Aug. 5, 1959, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by nine children, Patty Mabry, St. Marys, Cindy (Steve) Sharp, St. Marys, Tina (John) White, New Glouster, Maine; Mary (Matt) Brown, St. Marys, James Slone, St. Marys, Tony (Elizabeth) Slone, Sidney, Tom (Stephanie) Slone, Mineral Wells, W.Va., Timothy (Melissa) Whited, St. Marys, and Todd (Mary) Slone, West Farmington; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ivan Slone, Washington, Jim (Pauline) Slone, St. Marys, Betty Sexton, Wayland, Ky., Phyllis (Nick) Christian, St. Marys, Kathy (Dennis) Worster, Spencerville, Judy (Faron) Skeens, Wayland, Ky., Deb (Sean) Stephens, St. Marys, Tammy (Bob) Mabry, St. Marys, and Stacey (Roger) Smith, St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Ann Thornsberry; a sister, Jessie Allen; and a grandson, Corey Michael Brown.
He was a graduate of Pippa Passes High School, Ky. He retired from Hayes-Albion Corporation. He attended St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church. He loved to go coon hunting, visit flea markets and collect guns. He loved spending time with his wife and family.
Funeral rites will be 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, Brother Art Slone, officiant. Graveside burial rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Pippa Passes, Ky.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
