Minster woman served parishes in Minster, Egypt almost 19 years

MINSTER - A local woman faces up to 36 months in prison after admitting to stealing $190,000 from two local Catholic churches where she formerly worked.
Jane Boeke, 57, of Minster, who had been director of religious education for nearly 19 years at St. Augustine in Minster and St. Joseph in Egypt, on Tuesday pleaded guilty in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court to two fourth-degree felony counts of theft. [More]
Coldwater school officials say shorter lunch period curbs discipline issues

COLDWATER - A shorter lunch period to extend class time and better prepare students for mandated tests has greatly reduced disciplinary problems, according to school officials.
The unexpected benefit occurred after officials this year cut the lunch period from 42 to 30 minutes, Coldwater High School Principal Jason Hemmelgarn told board of education members Tuesday. [More]

ST. MARYS - For the second time in four days, the Minster Wildcats volleyball team hit the road to tangle with a Western Buckeye League foe.
And for the second time in four days, head coach Cami Garman's girls returned home triumphant.
The Wildcats tackled the St. Marys Roughriders last evening at Murotech Gymnasium and notched a 31-29, 25-14, and 25-20 victory. [More]

Barn, hay destroyed in blaze
CELINA - An overnight fire destroyed a large barn packed with hay on Miller Road, north of the city.
The 40-by-100-foot structure was fully engulfed when firefighters from Celina, Chattanooga, Rockford and Coldwater arrived at the farm of Ken Hellwarth, 4590 Miller Road, after 11 p.m.
