James Wissman
James C. Wissman, 86, St. Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of New Bremen, passed away on March 7, 2015, at Woodside Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born Sept. 28, 1928, to Lawrence and Estella (Rolfes) Wissman, who are deceased. On July 12, 1950, he married MaryLee Doenges in St. Marys, and she survives in St. Petersburg.
Also surviving are his children, Tom and Denise Wissman, Longmont, Colo., Dianne and Carl Schwartz, New Bremen, Donna and Scott Brinkman, Louisville, Ky., Rick and Pam Wissman, Loveland, Colo., and Sherri and Sam Harris, Roswell, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Wissman, New Bremen; grandchildren, Sadye Wissman (Jason Huston), Ryan (Lexy), Eric (Melissa), Doug (Jenny) and Sarah Schwartz, Andrea (Joshua) Barr, Ben (Jessica) Wissman, Kristy Turner, David and Courtney Brinkman, Glenda (Shawn) Sullivan, Isaac, Kyle and Kelsey Wissman, and Seth and Brooke Harris; great-grandchildren, Catherine, William, Beckham, Mackenzie, Austin, Brooke, Iziah and James; and brothers, John and Ann of Kansas, and Jerry and Arlene, Minster.
Deceased is a son, Larry Wissman.
James was owner and president of Precision Tool and Die, New Bremen, from 1955 to 1977. He also served as town council president and mayor. Jim and Mary moved to St. Petersburg in 1977, where he worked for five years as a business consultant prior to full retirement.
As a member of Holy Family Church, Jim enjoyed being president of the Men's Club and was a longtime usher.
Jim's interests were spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were all very special to him. He also enjoyed playing cards, golfing and sports, and had a spirit for being outdoors.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. March 28 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. March 27 at Gilberg Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and from 9-10 a.m. March 28 at the church, at which time the rosary will be said.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
