Michael Barhorst
Michael Joseph Barhorst, age 59, St. Rt. 29, passed away of natural causes following an sudden illness, Thursday evening, June 4, 2015, at the James Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born May 26, 1956, in Sidney, Ohio, to Thomas and Bernice (Huelskamp) Barhorst who survive at Anna.
Also surviving are three children: Leah & John Fullenkamp of Fort Loramie, David Barhorst & Fiancee Ashley Stoner of Fort Loramie, and Amber & Nick Broerman of Yorkshire; seven grandchildren: Eliza, Henry, and Molly Fullenkamp, Kaden Powell, Rhylan, Frankie and Britton Broerman; fourteen siblings: Steven & Mary Barhorst of Sidney, Joann & David Myers of New Bremen, Robert & Tammy Barhorst of Anna, Mary & Lynn Fell of Spencerville, Ronald W. Barhorst of Wapakoneta, Donna & David Sprague of Sidney, Carol & Steve Dircksen of Minster, Linda & Doug Stienecker of Anna, James & Jacqui Barhorst of Sidney, Julie & Brad Schulze of Fort Loramie, Keith & Karen Barhorst of Anna, Connie Greve of Botkins, Cathy & Louis Bruns of Maria Stein, and Lori & Ryan McAleer of Cincinnati; as well as 46 nieces and nephews, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joe Greve and niece and nephew, Hannah and Alex Barhorst.
Mr. Barhorst was a 1974 graduate of Anna High School. A machinist by trade, he had been employed at the Minster Machine Co. 28 years, the Monarch Machine Tool Co. 14 years, and a short stint at Industrial Machine Services
He had also been engaged in farming all of his working life. Mike was a life-long member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was also a member 3rd Degree member of the K of C council No. 5239, the Shelby Co., Farm Bureau, and the Anna Young Farmers. Mike enjoyed puzzles, farming, and helping others. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teasing his nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in McCartyville with Fr. John Tonkin presiding.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church gathering room.
