Rev. Eugene Langholz
The Reverend Eugene N. Langholz passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH.
Eugene was born to The Reverend Christian T. Langholz and Selma C. Langholz (n) Kamholz on June 20, 1921 in Wamego, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Carol R. Langholz (n) Knop.
He is survived by his children Joan Langholz Krause (Eric) of Dublin, OH, Philip Langholz (Georgette) of Indianapolis, IN, Mark Langholz (Bel) of Brightwaters, NY, Karen Hoffman (Dayle) of Knoxville, TN, siblings Lois Miller (Randall) of Michigan City, IN, Armin Langholz (Mary Ann) of Columbus, OH and Captain Marcus Langholz (Janice) of Winchester, Virginia, grandchildren Vanessa Goncalves (John) of Chatham, NJ, Emily Langholz of NYC, NY, Jennifer Langholz of NYC, NY, Tyler Krause of Boston, MA, Anna Hoffman of Knoxville, TN and Leah Hoffman of Chattanooga, TN, as well as great-grandson Samuel John Goncalves of Chatham, NJ.
Eugene graduated from Capital University in 1943 and Trinity Seminary in 1945. During his ministry he served several congregations; Divinity Lutheran Church, Akron, OH from 1945-1962, Saint John Lutheran Church in Richmond, Indiana from 1962-1976, and Saint John Lutheran Church in Celina, OH from 1976-1986. He also served as a visitation pastor for All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington, OH, and a supply minister for the Ohio District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
Eugene was always active in service to his community. He served as a Board Member for The United Way and the YMCA. He also organized The Neighborhood Association to ease problems of integration in Akron, OH, as well as numerous other committees. After serving parishes Eugene was proud to have been the Building Fund Coordinator for Wernle Children's Home in Richmond, Indiana from 1987-1989, as well as perennial fund raising for Capital University.
The family will accept visitors from 9:00-11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 3rd at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin, OH. A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Eugene will be held at 11:00.
