He was a part of the first Minster Boy Scout Troop in Minster in 1944 and served as Assistant Scout Master. He then proceeded to start the Cub Scout organization in Minster. He was involved with the Cub Scouts even as Scout Master for many years even through the '70's when his son Jon was involved.
He was one of the co-founders of the Minster Historical Society and served as the first president. He has contributed numerous personal items for the society's use. His time, energy and knowledge have been an asset to the society.
He was also the co-founder of the Minster Area Right to Life and also served as their first president. His leadership has made that organization into what it is today. He has continued to be involved with the organization and has contributed time, materials, much energy and resources to many of their fundraisers, including the Baby Contest at Oktoberfest.
More importantly we feel Robert is special for a few more reasons. He has helped so many people, most times anonymously. He has given his time and effort to neighbors, friends and even strangers with any help that may be needed of him.
He has provided emotional support to many families and individuals through prayerful intercessions so numerous we cannot count. He has truly made a difference in many people's lives. He impressed upon his family though, that it isn't always about serving on a board or being president of something. It is the behind the scenes, unselfishness giving of oneself, that makes the difference.
