Alan Shafer
Alan "Al" L. Shafer, 77, of Celina, Ohio, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 8:37 am.
He was born June 10, 1938 in Hoytville, Ohio to L.W. and Ketha (Burner) Shafer, both preceded him in death. He married H. Maxine Benedict on November 17, 1956 and she survives at the residence in Celina.
Other survivors include two daughters, Dawn (Kent) Hinton, Celina, and Amy (Ken) Phlipot, Celina; a son, Scott Shafer and his fiancee, Deb Diller, Celina; a sister, Jill Ickes, Colorado; ten grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a son, Jack Shafer; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Al was a 1956 graduate of Hoytville High School and Bowling Green State University. He retired from Marathon Oil after 35 years of service where he worked as a marketing representative.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, Celina Masonic Lodge #241, and the Ramblin Rose Car Club.
Al was a devoted husband and father, a fun loving grandpa, who had many friends. He will be missed by all.
Visitation hours will be from 3:00–7:00 pm, Friday, March 18, 2016 in the Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with Rev. Jon Exman officiating; where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.
