Area utility workers help electrify rural Guatemala

ST. MARYS - Two Midwest Electric linemen recently traveled to Guatemala to extend electrical service to a small mountain village - a trip they call "life-changing."

Chad Klaus, 33, St. Marys, and Andrew Roettger, 34, New Knoxville, volunteered for the trip organized by Ohio's Electric Cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association International Foundation. [More]

Grandstand to get fresh coat of paint

CELINA - Mercer County commissioners on Thursday approved a painting contract that will complete a yearslong renovation of the 116-year-old grandstand at the county fairgrounds.

The historical season for Wade Gelhaus (Fort Recovery) and the Saginaw Valley State men's basketball team came to an end on Wednesday.

The Cardinals' fell to Western Oregon 81-68 in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight at the Dr. Pepper Center in Frisco, Texas.
