Timmerman gets election position
By Sydney Albert
CELINA - Board of elections members chose a new deputy director on Tuesday, replacing longtime director/deputy director Laura Bruns, who left in May.
Kristi Timmerman of Fort Recovery will take up the mantle starting July 12, earning a salary of $41,500. Director Deb Sneddon said Timmerman had been chosen from about 30 applicants.
Timmerman told the newspaper she had formerly worked for the Mercer County Health Department for 11 years and was looking forward to the change of pace.
"I'm very excited to get started here and get my feet wet," she said.
Her predecessor, Bruns, left the Mercer County Board of Elections after nearly a decade of service to become director of the Miami County Board of Elections in Troy.
In other business, Sneddon said many local representatives still need to file their petitions for the 2019 ballot. She wanted to remind potential candidates that the deadline to have petitions circulated and submitted to the board of elections office was 4 p.m. Aug. 7.
