Parker elected Bremen mayor

By Sydney Albert
NEW BREMEN - Voters on Tuesday elected Robert D. Parker as the first new mayor of New Bremen in 16 years after the announced retirement of longtime mayor Jeff Pape.
Parker defeated opponent Craig Homan by taking in 423 votes to Homan's 284 votes, according to the Auglaize County Board of Elections' final unofficial results.
Parker, 52, has lived in New Bremen for 17 years and has a long history of civil service in the community, including experience working for the emergency medical squad and six years on village council.
He told the newspaper Tuesday night that he's happy he won and congratulated Hoffman on a good race. He is looking forward to doing good things in the village, he continued. He also thanked Pape for the good work he had done during his 16 years of service.
Pape decided not to seek re-election this year.
